It’s the best time of the year because fall is here! The best time to get outside and enjoy the prettiest weather Georgia has to offer is during the month of October. There are tons of things that can be explored as a couple or with the whole family.
Where to see Fall Foliage in Georgia
North Georgia offers endless views of the best places to see fall foliage in Georgia. Take drives through North Georgia is always a great way to see the trees turning in the fall but another great way to immerse yourself in to the fall landscape is hiking through it. Here are some of the best hikes in Georgia to do in the fall!
Amicalola Falls
Amicalola Falls is a very popular hiking destination for Georgia locals and tourists alike. Located up in Dawsonville, Georgia this State park offers views of waterfalls that can only be accessed by hiking there, as well as a Lodge and Glamping options if you are looking to make a weekend out of it.
Black Rock Mountain
Located in Clayton, Georgia, Black Rock Lake Trail offers five different hiking trails that total up to about 11 miles of hiking opportunities for those interested. In the park, there is also a 17 acre lake where you can canoe or kayak. This location also is a great spot to spend the weekend camping. Tent, Trailer and RV campsites are available as well as cottages if you want to escape to the great outdoors, but not that closely.
Cloudland Canyon
Jumping way up in North Georgia, Cloudland Canyon is almost into Tennessee, located in Rising Fawn, Georgia. Along the top of the canyon, a breath taking view can be seen, an amazing site in the fall. Hikers can also venture down into the canyon to catch a glimpse of the two waterfalls located there. These are some of the best waterfalls in Georgia!
Apple Picking
Another fall favorite, is apple picking in North Georgia. There are several orchards located across northern Georgia, that offer right-off-the-tree apple picking. However, if you just like fresh apples but don’t want the work that goes with it, Penland’s Apple House is for you! Just off the side of 575 North, is this red barn that is full of a variety of apples, ciders, apple fritters and other local wares you can purchase.
Mercier Orchards
For those who are looking to pick your own apples, Mercier Orchards is the way to go. Located in the heart of Blue Ridge, Georgia, this orchard is perfect for the whole family and offers more than just apple picking. Tractor tours, a market open daily, a winery and good eats are all available to be enjoyed on your weekend in Blue Ridge in the fall.
Pumpkin Picking
It’s not fall without pumpkins in Georgia. Sure you can run to your local Walmart and get pumpkins from a giant box, but pumpkin picking is just so much more fun. Here are some of the best pumpkin patches in Georgia.
Burt’s Pumpkin Farm
Burt’s is probably one of the more popular pumpkin patched in Georgia. Located up in Dawsonville, not far from Amicalola Falls, this is a perfect activity for the whole family. A variety of pumpkins, in all shapes, sizes, and colors are available to choose from. This farm also makes a great photo opportunity for families. This place is always packed in the fall, so be sure to get their early in the day and be prepared to walk a little from the parking lot.
Copper Creek Farm
Copper Creek Farm is located in Calhoun, Ga. This farm has tons to offer, like pumpkin picking, a corn maze and haunted maze, a bigfoot mystery, and so much more! Copper Creek Farm definitely has something for everyone here.
Georgia is truly one of the best places to be during the fall. It offers lots to do and sites to see that you aren’t going to want to miss.
